Cleaning and Replacing intake manifolds
EForeign debris ingested through intake mainfold
Due to the design and shape of the intake runners on some engines, it may make them virtually impossible to clean internally and they may need to be replaced. If previous engines suffered internal piston, valve, or valve seat damage, this debris can be ingested back into the intake manifold. This debris will then be ingested into the new engine and damage it.
- If not replacing Intake Manifold, it is very important to hot tank intake manifold and bore scope intake ports after cleaning to make sure that all debris has been removed. If you do not have a bore scope available it is critical to do a good visual inspection with a flashlight and inspection mirror.
Example of Manifold that has additional baffles inside tunneled runners.
